Michael Bruzon is an artist and educator who has exhibited internationally and throughout the UK.
His paintings feature processes of layering and reduction to engage with narratives of time and place. Works are generally informed by experiences of remote rural environments, where tidal cycles and prevailing conditions inform automatic recordings. Rooted in mark-making and drawing, he employs a range of note taking techniques to examine the relationship between visual source material, recalled imagery and experiences recorded as words.
By exploring shifting perceptions of memory and subliminal influence, his practice tackles tensions inherent within remembered experiences: focused on the past but seen from the present.
